CHARLOTTE, N.C. — An early morning accident on I-85 caused traffic to back up for miles early Friday morning.
The accident happened shortly after 8 a.m. in the southbound lanes near Statesville Avenue (Exit 39) when a tractor trailer overturned.
Medic said one person had non-life threatening injuries.
The accident was blocking three right lanes on I-85 SB for several hours, according to NCDOT. Traffic was seen backing up for miles, causing severe delays for morning commuters.
As of 11:30 a.m., officials say the area has been cleared and all lanes have reopened.
