Rowan County Sheriff's investigators haven't yet said how 53-year-old Sheila Godfrey died.
Family and friends started getting worried after not seeing her last Thursday.
Deputies went to check on her Friday and found her body inside her home in the 100 block of Lyerly Pond Road.
Detectives later found her vehicle parked at a laundromat on Avalon Drive.
They're now searching for the man spotted in her SUV, a white 1987 Chevy S10 Blazer, and seen on surveillance inside the laundromat.
