MINT HILL, N.C. -- Residents of the "Stone Bridge" neighborhood in Mint Hill are complaining about "shoddy construction," and a lack of response from the developer who built their homes.
Some homeowners accused Live Well Homes, LLC" of changing floor plans after non-refundable down payments were made or failing to build basic amenities correctly.
The Better Business Bureau has met with reps from Live Well Homes in the last month and says it will continue to follow up.
"The main concern that we see in the complaints themselves is that they center around callbacks. They're having a warranty issue, it's their first year being in the home, and they're having difficulty getting the company coming out to address those issues in a timely manner," said Tom Bartholomy, Better Business Bureau.
William Raiano moved to his Live Well house from Connecticut. He noticed issues at his house on the first day. Raiano said when he raised concerns, "The builder told me if you don't like it, don't buy the home."
But he'd already given thousands in a non-refundable down payment.
As a result, residents have lodged at least 19 complaints against Live Well Homes with the Better Business Bureau.
"Nineteen complaints over a three-year period of time isn't really unusual for a company that builds in the hundreds of homes per year," Tom Bartholomy of the Better Business Bureau said.
Better Business Bureau officials have met with Live Well Homes reps in the last month. Bartholomy said the company is trying to address resident's complaints.
