If you're expecting me to have a firm answer on whether Jordan Love can be a quality starting quarterback for the Green Bay Packers, I'm afraid I can't deliver a definitive answer.

Saturday night's 26-7 preseason loss to the Texans at Lambeau Field was an opportunity for Love to start, with Aaron Rodgers given the night off.

Love played the first half and went 12 of 17, for 122 yards. He threw a touchdown pass and also fumbled. You could see what you wanted to see. There was good and bad.

I thought he looked better than what I've seen in practice, but I'm not ready to crown him yet.

All I know is that the Packers have to hope Love isn't thrown into the fray soon. Say what you want about Aaron Rodgers, but he's (understandably) miles ahead of Love.

I'm still keeping an open mind about Love. I think it's too early to write him off. I want to see how he does in the remaining two preseason games.

However Love does, Aaron Rodgers will be under center for the regular season opener Sept. 12 in New Orleans. The verdict on Love will have to wait for another day.
