Melody Greene joined Spectrum News 1 in August, 2022. She is excited to tell the stories of the people of Asheville and the North Carolina mountain region. 

Melody is from Atlanta, Georgia by way of the Midwest, and a proud alumna of Spelman College.

In college, Melody interned at CNBC and CNN. She also participated in training programs at The New York Times and with the National Association of Black Journalists.

After graduating Spelman, she earned her master's degree from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. 

Her interests in traveling and exploring new cultures were cemented when she studied in London and Paris.

As a child, Melody’s family instilled in her the importance of keeping up with current events in the community around her, and around the world.  

Melody enjoys being a reporter, which combines her love of people, her curiosity, and her passion for writing and storytelling.

When she’s not working, you can find Melody exploring Asheville and enjoying iced chai tea latte.
