Rep. Holly Grange and her candidacy for governor came out of nowhere. While Lt. Gov. Dan Forest was raising money to discourage a primary race, Grange decided to throw her hat in the ring.
She has strong conservative credentials, like being a West Point graduate and U.S. Army officer, Republican lawmaker from Wilmington, strong on conservative issues, but her campaign started slow and quiet. Grange also hasn't raised a lot of money.
Still, she says she is an alternative to Dan Forest, whom she says carries a lot of political baggage with him.
