SAN ANTONIO -- In what turned out to be the upset win of San Antonio's municipal election, incumbent District 7 Council Member Cris Medina is out, and Ana Sandoval is in.
Sandoval's 51 percent of the vote carried her to a hard-fought victory over Medina, who received 36 percent.

Two words describe what helped fuel Sandoval's campaign:
"I believe!" chanted supporters at a victory celebration.
The native San Antonian, and soon-to-be first-time-office holder, praised supporters on Saturday for their role in the victory.
"I grew up in this district. And it was beautiful to see people that I have known for so many years come out of the woodwork and say 'let's reconnect, I want to help,'" she told the crowd.
Sandoval says, unlike the reputation Medina developed as a hard-to-reach council member during his three terms, she promises to be accessible and a positive change for District 7.
"I'm going to hold folks accountable including myself. So that's No. 1 of what people can expect of me. Someone who shows up, shows up prepared, asks the tough questions, gets the information and helps the voice of District 7," said Sandoval.
The Harvard and Stanford alum will be sworn into office next month.
