RALEIGH -- During an emergency meeting late Sunday night, the State Board of Elections appointed Edwin Woodhouse to the Wake County Board of Elections.

This comes after Judge James Dever released a court order Sunday asking the board to advise the court how long it would take to code revised districts under four scenarios for the November 2016 elections.

  • Use the redistricting plan that the Fourth Circuit declared unconstitutional
  • Use the 2011 School Board redistricting plan that was used in elections in Wake County in 2011 and 2013 and use the 2011 Wake County Board of Commissioners redistricting plan that was used inelections in Wake County in 2014
  • Use the Representative Gill seven single-member district redistricting plan at Trial Exhibits 471-72 and the two single-member super district redistricting plan at Trial Exhibits 473-74
  • Use the illustrative seven single-member district redistricting plan and the two single- member super district redistricting plan that the legislative leaders submitted on August 3, 2016.

A three-judge panel of appeals court declared election maps for Wake County's Board of Commissioners and School Board unconstitutional in July.

The Wake County Board of Elections now has until 4 p.m. Monday to respond to the court order.
