RALEIGH, N.C. — Christmas is around the corner, and many people have already started their holiday shopping.
If you are shopping for a loved one and don’t know what to get them, Spectrum News 1 brings you an “N.C. Best Gifts” idea to add to the Christmas list.
Kenda Kist Jewelry, owned by jewelry designer Kenda Kistenmacher, makes every piece to order through its hand forging metalwork.
“Our slogan is, 'Hand forged for you,'” Kistenmacher said.
Kistenmacher went to school to study art and got a concentration in metal design at East Carolina University.
She developed a wholesale account in 2002, and six years later, she started selling to 80 different stores across the country.
“It's been a wild ride. I've had a lot of support from my husband,” Kistenmacher said.
Kistenmacher’s husband Marty, along with jewelers Shane and Izzy, help to create the business’ custom jewelry.
Each person ensuring each piece has the “Kenda Kist” touch.
“We can do almost anything here from CAD design to engagement rings to recreation of heirlooms,” said the jewelry designer.
The designer says there’s a little something for everyone this holiday season, and her unique and colorful pieces will make you stand out from the rest.
“We also have gift sets, if you wanted to get somebody a nice matching set,” Kistenmacher said.
Custom pieces can be ordered in gold, silver or platinum using existing family treasures or from sourced gemstones and diamonds. Customers can also purchase her jewelry designs by visiting her website.
Depending on what you order, it can take up to six months. But you come into the shop and browse for something to take home the same day.
Kenda Kist Jewelry is open in Raleigh Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
