North Carolina is one of seven battleground states the Trump and Harris campaigns have put significant attention on winning this November.

But of those seven states it’s the only one that voted for former President Donald Trump in 2020. It’s why the Harris campaign is putting lots of resources into flipping the state. But Vice President Kamala Harris faces a challenge because the state hasn’t voted for a Democrat for president since Barack Obama in 2008.

In September Spectrum News Washington Reporter Reuben Jones, who has covered North Carolina news since 2017, went on a road trip to speak with voters in the state as well as the Harris and Trump campaigns to see how they are trying to win North Carolina.

He made stops across the state, including in small towns and communities in eastern North Carolina as well as the state’s cities. His goal was to speak with a diverse group of voters to see what they are saying this election season as well as what specifically the campaigns are doing to drive turnout.

North Carolina is critical for Trump to win this November so during this week of reporting Jones dives into the question of whether Trump can win it again or if Harris could actually flip this battleground state.
