APEX, N.C. — A Triangle high schooler is celebrating a student Emmy award win.

Jordan Zamojcin, a senior at Middle Creek High School, won the student Emmy award for TV excellence for an animated short film he created.

It’s called "Tales from the Otherworld."

Zamojcin said he wrote, animated and edited the 15-minute short all by himself.

“And it ended up getting nominated, got sent to Nashville, and I guess it won over the others,” Zamojcin said.

This month, Zamojcin said he was presented with the student Emmy, marking the first time a student has won the award at the Apex school.

And while he did some acting, he got help from his friends to bring the characters to life.

“It was much easier than I thought because they were all very enthusiastic about the project. I just gave them a basic synopsis. I let them do their thing. I found them wanting to redo takes without me asking them to because they were so into it,” Zamojcin said.

Zamojcin said he plans to start next school year as a freshman at N.C. State working to become a professional animator.

“I’d like to work for probably some sort of cinema or TV company, if not maybe do some concept art for video games,” Zamojcin said.

He hopes to build connections there with faculty and students in ESports, Computer Science and the Design departments.
