HAMPSTEAD, N.C. — Fitness is typically at the top of New Year’s resolutions, and Coastal Fitness Center is trying to keep clients on track to meet their goals.
A 2009 study found that it takes on average 66 days for a habit to form.
Logan McLamb is the head personal trainer at Coastal Fitness Center. She says it is important to keep clients motivated to achieve their New Year’s fitness goals and build exercise habits.
She believes giving her clients every tool to be successful is key. That’s why she has clients use a machine to do a 60-second scan of their entire body.
“We believe knowing your body from the inside out is what's going to help you achieve the goals that you want to achieve,” McLamb said.
The device gives a full body measurement, giving everyone a place to start their fitness journey.
“This is going to help us track her progress and find out if our macronutrients have what we need to do for you and your body type,” McLamb said.
About half of new gym members quit within the first six months, one study cited by exercise.com found.
While it can take months to see progress in the gym, McLamb has other ways to keep clients motivated, like small group work.
“They're so great because we can go into the new year with a community. You don't have to be nervous about joining the gym or not being able to use that equipment," she said. "We do this together as a team.”
