Charlotte Football Club is parting ways with head coach Christian Lattanzio, the club announced Wednesday morning.

Charlotte FC posted the announcement on its website and shared the news on X, formerly known as Twitter. Assistant coach Andy Quy will also be leaving the club, according to Charlotte FC.

“We would like to thank Christian and Andy for their time at the Club,” Owner David Tepper said. “They helped guide us through the last 18 months and we are all appreciative of their contributions to Charlotte FC.”

Lattanzio was assistant coach for Charlotte FC in 2021 before being named head coach in 2022, when he signed a contract extension through the 2024 season with an option for 2025, according to Charlotte FC

Born in Italy, Lattanzio served as the assistant coach for New York City FC from 2016-2018 and technical coordinator for Manchester City’s Elite Development Squad, according to the club.

Quy was hired by Charlotte FC in 2021 as goalkeeper coach after spending over a decade with Stoke City Football Club.

Charlotte FC Sporting Director Zoran Krneta said a search for the club's next head coach will "begin immediately."

“We undertook an offseason evaluation of our organization and we’re confident this move is in the best interest of the Club for 2024 and beyond,” Charlotte FC President Joe LaBue said. “Our Club will continue to be ambitious and strive to progress both on and off the pitch.”

Further details of the departure have not provided.
