CHARLOTTE, N.C. — It’s that time of year — kids may not like it, but many have to do it. If they’re going to public school, it’s time to get their back-to-school immunizations.

What You Need To Know

  • Mecklenburg County's public health department will hold an immunization clinic Aug. 26 for students who need back-to-school shots

  • The event is 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Northwest Health Clinic on Beatties Ford Road in Charlotte

  • If you miss that one, the agency is hosting another clinic on Sept. 16

Mecklenburg County Manager Dena Diorio says the county has you covered, if you haven’t scheduled those shots yet.

“It’s really, really important that all of our parents get their children immunized before their first day of school,” she said.

Diorio says the county’s public health department is hosting an immunization clinic Aug. 26 at the Northwest Health Clinic, 2845 Beatties Ford Road, Charlotte.

That’s two days before Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools resumes classes.

North Carolina has a 30-day grace period for immunizations. If students do not have up-to-date shots by that deadline, they’ll be dismissed from school.

If you miss the Aug. 26 clinic, Diorio says there’s another one Sept. 16.
