YORK COUNTY, S.C. — A small plane went down in the Catawba River on Friday morning, according to the York County Sheriff’s Office.
The pilot and passenger got out and are OK, deputies say.
The plane, which was rented, flipped when it hit the water, according to South Carolina's Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office.
Multiple agencies responded to the crash near Sun City Carolina Lakes.
“We are very thankful there were no serious injuries in this mishap,” Lancaster Sheriff Barry Faile said in a news release.
Officials have not released any further details surrounding what may have caused the plane to go down near Charlie Horse Lane.
The Federal Aviation Administration has taken over the investigation.
