CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A boy was fatally shot Friday morning, and his father faces charges in the death, Charlotte-Meckenburg police said.
Emergency responders found Jackson Truitt, 3, suffering from a gunshot wound in Charlotte's Steele Creek area and took him to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police say it happened at a home off O'Hara Drive near Pitty Pat Court.
Detectives interviewed family members, including the boy's father, Richard Allen Truitt, 46, who was arrested on charges of involuntary manslaughter and failure to secure a firearm from a minor.
