CARY, N.C. — It all started with a vision and a trailer for Brenna Doyle.

What You Need To Know

  • Brenna Doyle launched Six Foot Fit in April 2020

  • All of her classes are held outdoors

  • Doyle says her classes are open to everyone looking for a new gym experience

“They’re in their house, which is a box, they travel in a moving box, and then they are at work, or maybe they work from home," Doyle said. "It’s another box. So it’s a no-brainer decision to be outside with great people in the sunshine.”

Doyle’s startup, Six Foot Fit, started as a COVID-19 venture, offering workouts at a safe distance.

She took her decked-out fitness trailer on the go.

But Doyle soon realized this was bigger than just a workout class — she was building a culture, an anti-gym culture.

“If you’re constantly being catered to in a different way, what about for everyone else?" Doyle said. "So we have formed a family based on community but real community, and having fun and coming together to improve ourselves in the energy of growth.”

Shredding the fitness norms, you can find Doyle and her team of coaches every week in parks bringing the fun, along with that extra push of motivation when someone needs it.

She says it doesn't matter what you lift or what the scale says. The results go deeper.

“If you’re getting stronger and more confident in whatever you’re doing here, and then you go to make decisions outside of class, you feel like an entirely new human," Doyle said. "You’re stepping into a new version of you that wasn’t previously able to do some of these things. You are building the blocks to your next-level self in every single class.”

Doyle believes taking the leap of faith and building this new culture in a time of uncertainty was worth it.

“When you have the people at the front of your mind and the front of your heart, instead of anything else, it’s impossible to fail," Doyle said. "If I continue to show up authentically as me, every single class, every single day, people see that and they connect with that. This isn’t just a gym that you’re connected to, you’re connected to other humans.”
