CHARLOTTE, N.C. — An Amtrak train fatally struck a person as it headed to Charlotte’s train station Thursday afternoon.
Train 75 hit a trespasser on the track near Eastway Drive northeast of Uptown about 1:15 p.m., said an Amtrak official, who confirmed the person died.
