ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. — Seven high school students were hurt when a school bus driver had a medical issue and crashed in Rowan County Tuesday afternoon, Highway Patrol says.
The wreck happened just before 4:30 p.m. on Jack Brown Road near Nicolas Road and involved a West Rowan High School bus.
Troopers say the 42-year-old driver had a medical issue and traveled off the road before striking a culvert, a mailbox and two trees.
Seven of the eight students on the bus were taken to Rowan County Regional Hospital with minor injuries, according to Highway Patrol. The driver was also taken to the hospital for his medical issue.
