RALEIGH, N.C. — The N.C. Department of Health and Human Services will begin advertising monkeypox testing and vaccinations online this week.

A state public health manager confirmed the NCDHHS will "launch a digital ad campaign this week with the goal of increasing awareness” for monkeypox-related resources. These ads will display across digital platforms most visited by LGBTQ+ men.

The ad campaign will target social media and dating apps, like Grindr, to direct people to state health agency's website with monkeypox information

So far, most cases have around the world and in the United States are among men having sex with men. The state health department reports 70% of the cases are in Black men. The state ad campaign is intended to put the information where it’s needed most urgently.
