Rally Up Winston-Salem is anti-street violence

The group started three years ago

Its goal is to put a stop to mass shootings like the one in Texas

Rally Up Winston-Salem is an anti-street violence and public safety ministry. Members are working with the community to find solutions.

Artisha Tyson said she joined the group in hopes of making her community stronger.

"I started hearing about the shootings going on and all the violent crimes that were happening, not just to men but also to women and children," Tyson said. "As a mom, I felt like I had to do something."

She said their goal is to put a stop to events like Tuesday's school shooting in Texas.

"Nobody should be sitting in their homes worrying if a bullet is going to come flying in their living room," Tyson said. "Nobody should have to worry about their kids going to school, and if they're going to come home all right."

Rally Up Winston-Salem holds monthly meetings for discussions and forums that are open to the public.

Its next event is on June 16 for families who have lost loved ones.
