JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. — A food truck in Clayton is trying to spread good news. Every time you order Ella's Eats, staff is giving you a penny when you share some good news.
Owner Gabriella Terry wanted to give people an opportunity to practice gratitude.
“There's so much negativity going on," Terry said. "I understand it ties up the line a little bit, but to take that two seconds and just ask someone, 'Tell me something good or what's going on in your life? Is it your birthday, did you just graduate?' We may be the only person that's asked them and just the fact that we are showing that we care, I feel like it's just really important.”
Terry rolled out the food truck at a soft opening event April 9 at First Baptist Church in Clayton.
Her team is serving up Southern fusion food. The menu features a variety of items, including crab cakes, bacon jalapeño wontons and fried oreos.
And Terry's passion for catering extends beyond the food truck. She also owns Chefella's Catering and Events.
"Catering has always been a passion of mine," Terry said. "Working with people, seeing their special events come to life ... to be a part of the planning is just something I really enjoy."
Ella's Eats has events booked throughout the summer in Johnston County and beyond. If you want to get some grub and share something good, you can find where the food truck will be stationed by using Street Food Finder.
