CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Mothers across the country are scrambling to find formula for their children, as a nationwide shortage has some parents fearing they might run out.

What You Need To Know

  • Nicole Paciello uses Nutramigen for her daughter's formula
  • Right now she's only been able to find one or two cans at a time
  • She's worried if the shortage gets worse she may not be able to find any
  • Her daughter has an allergy to cow's milk

Charlotte mother Nicole Paciello says her daughter suffers from allergies to cow's milk, so she’s had to rely on a specific type of formula from a very young age.

She worries if the shortage continues, she won’t be able to find the right nutrients for her daughter.

“It’s heartbreaking,” Paciello said.  “I couldn’t imagine being in the position that she really needed milk, like that second, and you can’t find it. We’ve gotten close, but we haven’t been to that point yet.”

Part of the problem stems from a recall that happened back in February.

Manufacturers are ramping up production to make up the difference, but they admit it may take weeks to catch up.
