BOONE, N.C. — Nic Bozeman moved to the Town of Boone nine years ago and is now going to college to become a nurse. He loves Boone and wants to work in pediatrics.

He recently found a well-loved stuffed animal and worked to get it back to its owner.

"I have a little stuffed bear that I got. My dad got it for me on my birthday when I was born, and I still have it to this day, so I get the sentimental value of a stuffed animal," Bozeman said.

What You Need To Know

  • A stuffed bunny, "Bun-Bun," was lost and left behind by a family vacationing in Boone

  • Nic Bozeman found Bun-Bun and got him back home to his owner, Annie

  • He took pictures of the bunny on adventures for Annie

Bozeman was walking down King Street and saw a stuffed rabbit on the bench. He wasn't sure what to do, but he ended up grabbing the stuffed animal and taking it to his car.

"I was like, you know if that was someone I knews bunny, like a little kid's bunny, it's snowing so hard I wouldn't want it to get ruined," Bozeman said.

Five days later, Bozeman saw a post on Facebook from a woman named Julie, and a BOLO from Boone police searching for the bunny. It said "Bun Bun" was a gift at birth from her now-passed great grandmother. The family had been visiting Boone.

Julie posted when she noticed Bun-Bun was gone, she retraced her steps, revisiting everywhere they went, but had no luck. The family had to return home without the precious bunny.

Bozeman took pictures of the bunny's adventures.

"The rabbit's safe. He's come to work with me. He's had a great time. Just to tell a story like the rabbit has had a great time, but he's ready to come home to you guys," Bozeman said.

Bun-Bun eventually went home, but not before stopping at the Boone Police Department to pick up some gear. Police paid to ship the bunny back to Annie.
