CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The victim in a kidnapping caught on camera in east Charlotte has been found and the suspect has been charged, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say.
Officers say the violent scene was captured on a doorbell camera around 3 a.m. Wednesday outside a home on Driftwood Drive, near the intersection of Central Avenue and North Sharon Amity.
After asking for the public's help, police said they arrested 32-year-old Louis Lamontrez Meadows in connection with the case. He is charged with first-degree kidnapping and assault on a female.
The victim was taken to a safe place, authorities said.
"A victim can be seen attempting to flee from the suspect on foot while seeking help," police said when releasing the doorbell camera footage. "The suspect then grabbed the victim, threw them to the ground and proceeded to assault them multiple times."
Police say the victim is then seen dragged against their will toward a car parked in the street.
Warning: The video may be disturbing and difficult to watch
N.C. DMV patrol found the car, and Steele Creek officers found the suspect and victim, according to a news release.
"The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD's Public Affairs Office," police said in the release.
