Burn Boot Camp hosts third Be Their Muscle event

Runs from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.

100% of proceeds will go to the Muscular Dystrophy Association

Their South Park location is holding a workout, and 100% of the proceeds will go to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

They help 7,900 people across North Carolina, including Brie Allen, who lives in Charlotte.

Brie is 10 years old and lives with a form of muscular dystrophy called congenital myopathy.

MDA has helped her family a lot since she was diagnosed.

The organization can help families with funding wheelchairs, leg braces, other necessary equipment and even camp for kids.

"They have been a great support to us by providing care sometimes at little to no cost,” said Brie’s mother, Mary Allen.

Allen says this event is important because not many people know about muscular diseases.

"Muscle diseases don’t tend to be known about, so they aren’t as well-funded as other diseases and things like that, so every little bit helps,” Allen said.

These events fund the mission of the MDA and help kids like Brie.

"When you have a diagnosis, just keep smiling because then you can find your passion in anything,” Brie Allen said.

The event runs from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. There is a silent auction that opens at 12 p.m., the workout begins at 1 p.m. and there will be a trunk-or-treat for kids at 2 p.m. The silent auction closes at 2:45 p.m.

If you can’t make it to the event, you can still help by donating online.

The address is 4400 Park Road, Charlotte.
