HICKORY, N.C. — Two Hickory police officers are on administrative leave after shooting a man.

Around 10:30 p.m. Thursday, police were called out to the Corner Pockets II lounge on Highway 70 after a gun was pulled on an employee there. When officers arrived, they saw Gregory Cribb, 42, behind a dumpster in the parking lot.

Police say officers Josh Null and Richard Bortnick talked to Cribb for several minutes to try to get him to come out. Cribb made several threats to the officers and came at them, officials say.

That is when Null and Bortnick shot at Cribb. Cribb was hit and was taken to the hospital. The case is being reviewed by the State Bureau of Investigation, which is standard procedure for an officer-involved shooting.
