HAYWOOD COUNTY, N.C. – Emergency crews have set up a command center at restaurant, Jukebox Junction in Canton.

Jukebox Junction owner, Mike Graham, says they lost power during the storm. Now that it's been restored, his first priority is helping out.

What You Need To Know

  • Jukebox Junction is gathering supplies and donations for families in need

  • Staff is collecting food, water, cleaning supplies and more

  • It's parking lot is being used as a command center for first responders. The Salvation Army is also parked there to help feed folks in the community

“I know dozens of my regular customers lost everything...their homes...their livelihoods,” Graham said.

Graham's family, friends and staff are all working together to organize supplies for people impacted by the storm. They are collecting nonperishable foods, water, personal hygiene products, pet food, baby diapers and formula, along with cleaning products.

"Don't be afraid if you see all of the emergency vehicles out there. If you need something, ask," Graham said. "We will get it for you and bring it out to you, or you can come in and pick out what you think you need."

Graham says he is prepared to use his parking lot as a command center as long as emergency crews need him to.

"We are well on our feet and this is not a problem at all. It's much better that we are able to do this. Even if my business was open, I would be closed right now so they could help with the rescue and recovery."

Emergency crews are stationed at the intersection in front of Jukebox Junction at Cruso Road and NC-110. Only local traffic is allowed through at this time.

Graham doesn't anticipate being back open for business until sometime next week.

"I think the best way people can help...unless you are here to donate, stay away from the area," Graham said. "There are too many TT's- or tragic tourists. They like to look around at tragedy and drive around and say ooh, aah...we don't want any of that right now folks."

The Salvation Army is also parked in front of the restaurant to help feed families. Workers say they are prepared to stay up to two weeks if they need to.
