GREENSBORO, N.C. — Ben’s Boyz is serving up comfort food in the Triad, and the flavor is pure Carolina.

Ben’s Boyz is owned by father-son duo, Will and Joseph Wyatt. Together, they have more than 50 years of experience in the food industry.

What You Need to Know

Ben's Boyz started dishing up comfort food in the Triad on June 1

The restaurant is owned by a father-son duo

The business started out as a food truck, but quickly grew into a brick-and-mortar eatery

Will Wyatt previously owned SidWill’s Cafe & Catering in Jamestown, but the family wanted to bring a different twist to Southern cooking. Ben’s Boyz is an ode to the Wyatt patriarch, Will’s father, Ben. The “Boyz” include Will, son Joseph and grandson Isaiah.

“My son (Joseph) wanted to do something that would leave a legacy for the family,” Will Wyatt said.

Ben’s Boyz first opened as a food truck in 2020, but quickly grew to a storefront, located at Friendly Center in Greensboro. The restaurant opened its doors June 1, roughly three weeks after securing its first brick-and-mortar location.

The Wyatts serve up Southern classics, like collard greens, macaroni and cheese, cornbread, candied yams, house-made lemonades and so much more. Will Wyatt curated a moist and flavorful turkey meatloaf. Their most popular item is Joe’s wings, fried and served naked or with your choice of signature sauce.

“A lot of groups ... eat here, and I’m amazed at how often they say ‘It tastes like my grandma’s,'” Will Wyatt said.

The menu packed with scratch-made recipes comes to life with a large team of workers, who operate like a family. Most of the Ben’s Boyz team is under the age of 24, so the Wyatts focus on mentoring and teaching them about entrepreneurship.

“On the side of my truck it says ‘it’s the anointing that makes a difference’ and I certainly believe that,” Wyatt said.

In a short amount of time its been open, Ben’s Boyz has seen an overwhelming outpouring of support from the community. Lines spill outside during lunch and dinner rushes, as people wait for a taste of premium comfort food. Wyatt credits the success to two important factors: the favor of God and the favor of man.

“We try to create an environment where you walk in, you feel comfortable. When you walk in the front door, they make you feel loved,” he said.

The restaurant embodies love, comfort and food. Joseph Wyatt shared a recipe for Ben’s Boyz candied yams to try at home:
