Dr. Marcus Gause is known as the “Singing Principal” across the country, and he’s from Andrews High School in High Point. He went viral on social media for belting out Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You” during their graduation ceremony. It garnered tens of thousands of views online and landed him on national news.

“One of the events I’m doing in lieu of payment, they are going to make a donation to the school, and so I’m hoping that becomes a trend, so that we begin to do some other things for students that sometimes funding prevents us from doing,” Gause said.

He says he chose “I Will Always Love You” to serenade his students with a little help from his valedictorian.

“With this chorus right now, it just reminded me that regardless of what they went through and will go through moving forward, it doesn’t matter. I’m here rooting them on and that there is nothing that will be able to separate us because we have created a bond that will last forever. That is the love we have for each other that we have created a bond that is everlasting,” Gause said.

He just wants to help his students to succeed in life and create a school where they can do that.

Since going viral, he has been invited to sing for multiple events across the state. He recently sang the National Anthem for the High Point Rockers baseball game and sang for the Miss Carolina Teen USA Pagent.

Gause has also set up a scholarship fund for his students called the Red Raiders Scholarship. If you would like to donate you can send a check to the High Point Truliant Federal Credit Union branch or send an email to Gause for more information.
