“I'm lucky to work with a lot of minority-owned businesses, women-owned businesses, LGBTQ-owned businesses," Lukas said. "And it's just something I guess I take as a point of pride.”

He’s been an activist since he was a teenager, fighting race, gender and LGBTQ injustices.

Lukas said for those simply struggling to understand the needs of people who identify as LGBTQ, he has one message.

“I think you have to take a step back and really think about what empathy means and where you’re getting those ethic guidelines for yourself," Lukas said. "Because again, love is love and being able to bring that into your life is important. And respecting others who may not choose the roads you do is just as important.”

Lukas' company will be a sponsor for Greensboro's Pride Festival on September 19.

He also plans to host a virtual pride parade with Triad Health Project in early July.
