CONCORD, N.C. — Downtown Concord rolled out the red carpet for an iconic movie that's being filmed there.

You can see old cars from the 1970s lined Union Street for the film "Are You There, God? It's Me, Margaret.

It's based off the popular Judy Blume book of the same name. Actresses Rachel McAdams and Kathy Bates will star in the movie. People we spoke to at the shoot say filming the movie in this area could be a boost for the local economy.

"People might look up Union Street because of this. You see oh there's a music shop or a restaurant they might want to come try. So, I think it's important publicity for them,” bystander Sydney Freeze said.

Crews will continue shooting scenes for the movie in the Charlotte area over the next few weeks.
