FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — James Throssel is a manager at the Cameo Art House Theater, where he has worked for three years.

“It’s been great to have people back in here. Everyone’s so happy to be back watching movies,” he says.

During the height of the pandemic, the movie house was closed. The Cameo did provide a streaming service for people who enjoy the independent films shown there.

Now, in-person viewing is happening again. And although only 50% attendance is permitted, out of an abundance of caution, the people who run the Cameo have decided to keep attendance lower than that.

The best way to describe the audience at the Cameo is a community of movie lovers . Often, after a screening, the patrons gather in the lobby to offer their thoughts on the film.

Films are shown every weekend at the theater. If things continue to improve with the pandemic, it’s possible that attendance for the films will be increased in a couple of months.
