CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Over at the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department, officers are used to seeing double. The department has its own set of twins that both work as homicide detectives.

“You have an instant best friend, and an instant enemy,” said Christian Sinnott. “It’s equal measures.” That’s how Christian and Brandon Sinnott describe life as twins.

While they might look the same, but they are very different. Brandon would describe Christian as more outgoing, while he considers himself to be much more reserved.

While their personalities are opposite, their career paths have always found a way to align together.

The Sinott twins were raised just outside of Detroit, and once they finished high school, they found their way to the same college.

They both wrestled, which led them into coaching careers, and away from each other for the first time.

Christian moved to Charlotte to join the city’s police department. Months later, Brandon decided to do the same.

“I was thrilled because I was so excited about it,” said Christian Sinnott. “For me personally getting in it’s no small task. There’s a lot that goes into it so I was thrilled. I was excited, and I wanted to share in that excitement with him as well.”

They had dreams of being in the action when they joined the force, but the twin brothers began gravitating toward another part of policing.

“I go to these scenes, and some of the most terrible things that you see happen to people, and I want to know what happens,” said Brandon Sinnott. “I want to figure out that process of figuring out who did it and figuring out what kind of justice is that person going to get.”

Ten years later, they now sit right next to each other solving crimes as homicide detectives.

Brandon hopes to become a Sergeant one day, but both brothers say they are perfectly happy staying in the homicide unit.
