RALEIGH, N.C. -- School boards across our state are grappling with the push to return students to in-person learning.
The guidance from Governor Cooper earlier this week gives the responsibility to each of the 115 school boards in North Carolina. North Carolina Association of Educators has inquired about a more aggressive vaccine plan for teachers.
Leanne Winner, executive director of the NC School Boards Association, says that could be a game changer.
"If we could get to that third group and get teachers and other school personnel vaccinated, then we are in a very different situation than we are currently in," Winner says.
Winner points out some states are not following CDC guidelines and are pushing teachers up in the vaccine schedule. She says they have made the suggestion to Governor Cooper.
