SALISBURY, N.C. — A North Carolina tech company is playing a major role in distributing virtual training kits to law enforcement and military bases around the world.
Walser Technology Group in Salisbury is working alongside Streets Smart VR to test, assemble, and distribute virtual reality kits that put law enforcement and military people in real world crisis situations.
These training kits include a variety of response scenarios, including domestic violence, armed robberies, and theft. Trainees can communicate and respond to the victims and suspects involved in each scenario, and the trainer can review the scenario with the trainee to see how the officer responded.
"We shipped out a kit last week to Kuwait so there's military bases across the world, all across the country that are benefiting from these things. People being trained by the software that I will never ever see or meet, so I think thats pretty cool," said Walser Technology Group Intern, Tanner Hawkins.
The software has been used locally. Most recently, it was used at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's training facility.
