  • Murray says she hopes her diverse set of tunes shows people the commonalities in music

Most play sets at weddings, clubs, celebrations or shows. And while DJ Pittipat still does that on the side, her favorite audience is the commuters at the Durham Bus Terminal.

"They're going to say, 'Oh my God they must really do it up in Durham, they have DJs at their bus station,'” says Patricia Murray, also know as DJ Pittipat.

She was playing every third Friday of the month in 2020, thanks to a partnership with Downtown Durham Inc. But because of the pandemic, many of her shows were cancelled or condensed.

Murray's mother was a music teacher, so she grew up listening to music of all kinds. Now Murray is hoping to help people listen to and learn something new.

“I'm trying to show people that there are a lot of unexpected commonalities and music is the best way to exemplify that,” Murray says.

Murray is done with shows for the next few months at the Durham Bus Terminal. She is hoping to start again once the weather warms up.

When she's not playing tunes, you can find Murray writing and sharing information on "The Durham Skywriter", Durham's online community newspaper.
