FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Victoria Johnson has watched her husband, Walter, endure a lot over the past year. After suffering from high blood pressure for years, Walter was diagnosed with kidney failure last fall.

He now undergoes dialysis on a nightly basis.

Currently, their family is going through the long process of getting Walter on a list to receive a kidney transplant. But that takes time.

Victoria recently took to social media to plead for a new kidney for her husband.

The Johnsons have five children ranging in age from around 10 months up to 11 years, and Victoria says her main motivation to do this was because she wants her husband, who is a devoted father, to always be around for their children.

If Walter does find a living donor, his family says it will take about six months before the actual kidney transplant, and that's not the end of it.

He would be on even more medication for the rest of his life, medicine that would prevent his body from rejecting a new kidney.
