CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A lot of places across North Carolina are getting into the holiday spirit this year, including the Historic Rosedale Plantation in Charlotte.

The plantation is offering evening tours every Saturday before Christmas, taking attendees back to mid-1940s.  

“Most of our regular tours focus on the first two owners of the home, which were Craig and Louise Davidson,” Amanda Irvin says. “(They) moved here in 1918, and their daughters inherited the house in the 1950s, so we are celebrating the magic of Christmas through the way they would have experienced it.”

This year the house will represent Christmas in 1945 with many of the decorations coming from staff members.

“We’ve brought in a lot of things that are like personal items to bring it to life a little more,” Derek Henson says.

Staff workers decorated the house earlier this month and are excited for the public to see what everything looks like.

“I’m kinda hoping that people can sort of invibe (envision) the same hope that people in the late 1940s had after the second World War,” Irvin says. “You know there is a light at the end of the tunnel.”
