CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Artists, actors, musicians and dancers have all found ways to adapt during the pandemic in order to bring people new shows.

The Children's Theatre of Charlotte in particular is making a big shift during the pandemic to give people the magic of a live show.

Instead of a full season, they are now creating a shortened, virtual season with four shows. The actors and crew were sequestered before and during the rehearsal process, and rehearsed with masks on. The show was then recorded and edited for people to stream from their TV, or computer.

Alex Aguilar, one of the actors, says while it was a challenge adjusting to the new norm of performing with pandemic restrictions, it's a thrill to be able to bring people the wonder of a live show from the comfort of their own home.

“We can provide the show to a wider audience, so there’s more access to audiences at home who may not have the opportunity to come to the theater, who may not feel safe enough to go in public. Now, they have the opportunity to watch it safely at their home," he says. "I feel like everybody has front row tickets, so that’s pretty awesome. Hopefully we’ll reach an audience nationwide, if not worldwide, and they’ll get to see the magic we can provide here in Charlotte.”
