KERNERSVILLE, N.C. – The holidays are just around the corner, and that means there's going to be a lot of temptations to indulge in more desserts and starchy foods.

Professional Bodybuilder Tricia Thomas makes a conscious effort to stay healthy during the holidays because of the journey she's been on. When Thomas was 278 pounds in August of 2017, she underwent bariatric surgery, and then lost all of her excess weight by the end of 2018.

In order for Thomas to stay on track and maintain this new lifestyle, she doesn't give in to the holiday temptations.

"It's easy to fall off track, and it's hard to get back on track, so if you just stay with it moderately it's easy to get back to it full bore," Thomas said.

A Novant Health dietician told us the average American can gain up to 10 pounds from Halloween through New Year's.
