GOLDSBORO, N.C. – The Neuse River is on the rise following Thursday's heavy rain.

In Goldsboro, the river is expected to crest sometime this weekend.

Further upstream, the river is expected to crest in Clayton Friday and Smithfield at some point Friday evening.

Kinston could see the Neuse rise to major flood levels at some point next week. 

Northbound lanes of I-95 at Smithfield exit 102 are closed due to flooding, although they are expected to open by 5 p.m. Friday.
