RALEIGH, N.C. – A Raleigh brewery is helping voters get more information on the 2020 election.
Gizmo Brew Works created two beers called "Civil Duty" and "Ballot Box."
Both the beer cans have QR codes that customers can scan. The links lead them to the North Carolina Bureau of Elections website.
Civil Duty helped voters register to vote, while Ballot Box helps voters find their polling place.
Head brewer Joe Walton says he got the idea while watching election coverage. Walton wanted to make information on voting more accessible.
"If nothing else, it starts a conversation and if one person scanned this to register to vote, then I feel like we did a huge service and if it was more than that, then that's amazing.” says Walton.
Gizmo Brew Works has already sold out of both cans at its taproom, but you can still find the beer on draft at the brewery and at stores across North Carolina.
Walton says he knows it's dangerous to mix politics and business, but he says the feedback has been positive across the board.
"I have my personal political beliefs, but even if we differ, you need to go vote. I truly believe that." Walton says.
