GREENSBORO, N.C. — Haunted houses across the state have needed to make major changes this year to keep their businesses open and their customers safe.
Woods of Terror, a well-known attraction in Greensboro, has introduced a new virtual queue line for the season to ensure social distancing as well as temperature checks at the ticket booth for all guests.
Guests are required to wear masks, as are all actors and staff, and it's placed 15 hand sanitizing stations throughout the facility.
Following guidance from other haunted houses in North Carolina and the North Carolina State Health Department, they even restructured the haunted houses themselves.
Owner and operator, Eddie McLaurin says it is a different experience, but it's the same scares as usual when you get into the woods.
"We got a lot of air bags, called claustrophobia’s, we took all of those out. The last attraction, we used to put hoods on your heads, obviously we took those out. So basically, we went in and moved the set, moved some furniture around so the furniture would be in between the customers and the actors," McLaurin says. "So, we had to move a lot of stuff around, but we kept the walls the same and it’s worked out well. People are enjoying it."
The first half hour of every night is reserved for high risk guests to attend as well as health care workers, caregivers, first responders, and the older population.
Woods of Terror is open Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sundays. For tickets and more information, click here.
