WILKES COUNTY, N.C. – This year’s Brushy Mountain Apple Festival has been canceled.

According to a release, the cancellation is due to concerns surrounding the coronavirus pandemic.

In a statement, President of the Board of the Brushy Mountain Ruritan Club said, “The Brushy Mountain Ruritan Club is dedicated to helping the Wilkes County community. We wouldn't want to put anyone at risk. Our number one priority is the health and well-being of the community, attendees, vendors and volunteers.”

The Brushy Mountain Apple Festival is an annual event held in downtown North Wilkesboro where farmers and artisans gather to sell goods. There are also usually several musical performers.

Next year’s festival is scheduled for October 2.
