CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — More than 100 people walked to remember U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg Wednesday.

Participants walked less than a mile from Carrboro to the Peace and Justice Plaza in Chapel Hill.

"As a basis of a woman, I'm equal to a man. I'm also a Black woman, so for me it's more so that she fought for equality of all women, not just white women in general," said Ashley DosSantos, a UNC-Chapel Hill student.

DosSantos, 20, studies political science, sometimes reviewing Ginsburg's rulings during her tenure on the U.S. Supreme Court bench.

"That's one thing I loved about her. She always thought about things strictly in terms of the Constitution," she adds.

Participants then gathered at the plaza where they held a moment of silence. The entire event lasted less than an hour.

"She may had been a minimalist, but she was an outstanding leader in the advancement of the law," former Chapel Hill Mayor Ken Broun said to the crowd.
