BOONE N.C. – Three clusters have popped up at Appalachian State University.
The university has confirmed a cluster at Thunder Hill residence hall, and within both the Kappa Delta and Chi Omega sororities.
There are currently 98 active student cases and one employee. Those on campus Sunday said they were taking precautions by wearing masks, and avoiding group settings and public spaces.
One student, Rylan O'Connor, says he is proud of his university for their response to COVID-19 and now hopes the students act responsibly as well.
"The one last party you guys, or we students, try to go to could be the one last party that gets everyone sent home. The way I see it is I want to be here I don't want to go home so let's get through it and then we can party and have fun once this is over," saya O'Connor.
The university says it has secured off campus sites for isolation and quarantine space. It cannot release those locations to protect the privacy of the students.
