CHARLOTTE, N.C. –  The NASCAR Hall of Fame has multiple exhibits that are interactive and hands-on. It’s why several changes had to be made to keep people safe during COVID-19.

What You Need To Know

  • The NASCAR Hall of Fame has been closed since March due to COVID-19

  • The Hall of Fame will reopen September 16

  • Masks are required inside the facility

NASCAR Hall of Fame executive director Winston Kelley says upon entry, customers will receive devices so their hands don’t come in direct contact with touchscreens throughout the facility.

“Our hard card is what activates the interactive touchscreen to turn it on,” Kelley says. “Everyone will get complimentary stylists so they can move the interactive without needing to touch them.”

A stylist is similar to pen for a smart device.

The High Octane Theater by the entrance will remain closed.

“Theaters inside museums are required to be closed just like movie theaters, so we have repurposed our orientation video and it will be shown on the fan billboard,” Kelley says.

Kelley says they have updated some exhibits like Glory Road.

“If you want to look inside the car [that is on display] the touchscreen gives you a 360 degree view of what it looks like inside,” Kelley says.

On the third level, there are several experience exhibits. Some are now limited to a certain number people. Others, like the Race Day Simulator, will have rotations for cleaning.

“Our simulator has seats for two people, one on each side of the car,” Kelley says. “We will have the left side run with up to seven people, racing against themselves, and then the staff will clean the left side. Then, we will run the right side and keep doing that alternating back and forth.”

The entire hall of fame is one directional with hand sanitizing stations throughout, elevators are limited to two people and staff will be cleaning surfaces regularly.

“Most importantly, we want them to know that we are cleaning with care and their safety and the safety of our employees is paramount,” Kelley says.

Tickets for the NASCAR Hall of Fame are $25 per adult and $18 per child 12 and under. Staff are encouraging customers to purchase tickets online.
