ORANGE COUNTY, N.C. – Effective Friday, July 10 at 5 p.m., there will be new county guidelines for businesses and customers to follow regarding the on-site sale and consumption of food and alcohol in Orange County.
County officials say the changes are being made to its emergency declaration in order to help slow the spread of COVID-19.
The changes are aimed at reducing group settings where the virus can easily spread. Some of the biggest adjustments to eating and drinking out in the county and Chapel Hill include:
- No alcohol sales or on-site consumption between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m.
- No customers shall be present for on-site consumption between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m.
- No on-site consumption of food and/or beverages between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.
- No sitting or standing at bars for food and beverage consumption.
- Patrons are not allowed to touch shared surfaces such as bar counters or game equipment such as pool tables, darts, and pinball machines, etc. (restrooms excluded).
According to a release, the restrictions will apply to restaurants, breweries, wine shops, private clubs, bars, and any other businesses or organizations that sell alcohol for on-site consumption.
