FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Year-round schools in Cumberland County will operate on a traditional calendar this year, according to CCS.


What You Need To Know

  • Schools in Cumberland County formerly functioning on a year-round calendar will now follow the traditional calendar.

  • Year-round schools were supposed to start the new year Thursday.

  • They will now start on August 17.

Classes were supposed to start remotely on Thursday, but the district announced Wednesday that year-round schools will now follow the traditional calendar and begin the new school year on August 17.

 

 

“Throughout this process, we have followed the guidance of state officials and associations, which has now changed to align with the legal opinion released by the General Assembly,” said CCS Superintendent Dr. Marvin Connelly, Jr. “We regret the inconvenience this change will cause our students, families and employees.”

The district’s year-round schools include Anne Chesnutt Middle, E.E. Miller Elementary, Reid Ross Classical Middle and Reid Ross Classical High.
